“Argiolas” Wine Cellars - Serdiana (CA)

“Argiolas” Wine Cellars are in Serdiana, 15 km. from Cagliari, in the area named “Parteolla”. They are part of the winery and farm “Argiolas”. The company was founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas. A company that is an example of dedication and courage, as it was demonstrated by the events of the Seventies. In those years, the European Economic Community, encouraged the removal of the vineyards to reduce the production of wine. Antonio Argiolas, instead,  began a process of expansion, investments and radical changes in the methods of cultivation and in the types of wines produced, thanks also to the involvement of the oenologist Giacomo Tachis. This transformation has created high quality wines, which have won the major awards in Italy and abroad. The wines of “Argiolas” Wine Cellars arise from the grapes of five farms covering an area of nearly 250 hectares, in three areas of southern Sardinia considered as excellent places for the cultivation of the grapevines: a farm is situated in the territory of Serdiana, three in Trexenta, while the  fifth farm is in Porto Pino, in Sulcis area. Inside the “Argiolas” Wine Cellars, you can as well buy wines and do the guided tours of the tools and places used in the different stages of wine processing. A visit that in addition to satisfying the curiosity about an ancient craft, it gives us a greater awareness of what we drink.

Le Cantine Argiolas si trovano a Serdiana, 15 km. circa da Cagliari, nella zona del Parteolla. Fanno parte dell’azienda vitivinicola e agricola Argiolas. L'azienda è stata fondata nel 1938 da Antonio Argiolas. Un’azienda che è un esempio di dedizione e coraggio, come dimostrano le vicende degli anni Settanta. In quegli anni, la Comunità Economica Europea, incoraggiava l'espianto delle vigne per ridurre la produzione vinicola. Antonio  Argiolas ha invece iniziato un processo di espansione, di investimenti e di radicale cambiamento nei metodi di coltivazione e nel tipo di vini prodotti, grazie anche al coinvolgimento dell'enologo Giacomo Tachis. Questa trasformazione ha dato vita a vini di qualità, che si sono aggiudicati importanti premi in Italia e all’estero. I vini della Cantina nascono dalle uve di cinque fattorie che coprono una superficie di quasi 250 ettari, in tre delle zone del sud della Sardegna considerate ottime per la coltivazione della vite: una fattoria si trova nel territorio di Serdiana, tre nella Trexenta, la quinta fattoria è a Porto Pino, nel Sulcis. All’interno delle Cantine poi è possibile, oltre a comprare i vini, effettuare delle visite guidate alla scoperta degli strumenti usati nelle varie fasi della lavorazione. Una visita che oltre a soddisfare la curiosità a proposito di un antico mestiere, ci da una consapevolezza maggiore su quello che beviamo.
